Before  you attempt to answer the questions, make sure you have studied:

  • Chapter 9: Understanding Speech: You can skip the sections “ Evaluation of the TRACE model", “Other connectionist models of speech recognition”, and “Comparison of models of spoken word recognition”  that start in page 274 -on the right of the page in the second paragraph- and end in page 280
  • The notes of Chapter_9.doc : You should start reading the chapter and when you reach a section of the chapter associated with a particular section of the notes, then read that section of the notes
  • Chapter 10: Understanding the Structure of Sentences: You can skip the subsection: “Two early accounts of Parsing”-it starts in page 293,right part of the page, and ends in page 295-, and the sub-sections “Other Models of parsing”, and “Processing syntactic-category ambiguity”, and the section “Gaps, traces and unbounded dependencies-They start in page 306 and end in page 312
  • The notes of Chapter _10.doc:  Read the notes of chapter 10 before reading the corresponding chapter.

Remember that the notes are not a summary of your readings. For your quizzes, you are responsible for both the material covered in the assigned textbook chapter, and the material covered in the notes.

You will have only one attempt to take the quiz. You will have 50 minutes to complete it and will not be able to pause or save the quiz to complete it later.
