The course design planner includes important brainstorming and reflection questions and planning activities to guide you through a strategic planning process for online and blended course design and development. The planner also allows you to interact with the content within the course and make connections to their specific subject area and use case. How Do I Use the Course Design Planner

In the planner, you will find a section that aligns with each module of the course and or specific course assignments. To successfully interact with the course design planner: 

• Download and save the planner to an easily accessible location (e.g., on your computer or in the cloud).
• Find the section of the planner that aligns with this course's module topic, planning worksheet, or BYCA that you are working on. You can go through the planner sequentially or skip around based on your unique needs. 
• Review and complete the planner activities. The majority of the planner is organized into three main sections:
  1. Brainstorm. This section after you've read the <Replace -  Course Title>  content but before completing the associated planning worksheet or BYCA to help you think through important guiding questions related to how you may approach those activities/assignments. 
  2. Reflect. Review this section after you've completed the associated planning worksheet or BYCA to assess your work. The reflection questions here align with research-based instructional design and pedagogical design principles. 
  3. Additional Help. Review this section to find additional resources and activities to help you towards your unique course design and development needs. 
• Please note that the Course Design Planner is a protected Word document, which gives you the opportunity to enter your information in the appropriate sections, while the rest of the document will remain intact.

Is the Course Design Planner required?

Use of the planner is optional; however, we encourage you to take advantage of the brainstorming and reflection activities provided within the planner as you go through the <Replace - Course Title> course content and complete the course planning and development activities.

Who might benefit from the use of the Course Design Planner?

Instructors and course facilitators at any level can benefit from the use of the course design planner. However, if this is your first time teaching an online course then we strongly encourage you to use the planner as an accompanying resource to the <Replace - Course Title> course content.
