Purpose
The purpose of this assignment is to create an instructor introduction that incorporates your online persona and helps humanize your digital learning course.
Steps to Complete this Activity
Review
- Review the following module pages if you have not already done so:
Plan
- Refer to the Course Design Planner section titled "Leaner-Centered Course Design" to brainstorm and plan your instructor introduction.
- Identify the type of introduction you plan to create (e.g., text, audio, video, or a combination of these).
- Consider creating a draft.
Create
- Access your development course. (Need help finding your development course? Review

- We recommend completing this assignment on a laptop or desktop computer.
- Follow the directions below for the type of introduction you plan to create.
Directions for a Text Introduction:
- Create a new Page Links to an external site. in your development course if you have not yet created one.
- If you already have a draft Word document, you may use the Import DOCX or HTML Tool Links to an external site. created by CDL to import the content from the Word document onto a page in your course.
- Add your instructor introduction text to the page.
- Consider adding images Links to an external site..
- Consider using the Canvas Accessibility Checker Links to an external site. as you edit the page to identify and fix potential accessibility issues.
- Don't forget to click the Save button to save your work.
Directions for a Video/Audio Introduction:
- Create a new page Links to an external site. in your development course if you have not yet created one.
- Create a draft of your script. The script can serve as a transcript for an audio recording and may be used to add captions to a video.
- Add the text for your script to the page. This text may be replaced with video or audio file once produced.
- Consider using the Canvas Accessibility Checker Links to an external site. as you edit the page to identify and fix potential accessibility issues.
- Don't forget to click the Save button to save your work.
- Work with your instructional designer to discuss options and next steps to create an accessible video or audio introduction.
Submit your Artifact for Review
- Once you have created the Instructor Introduction page in your development course, copy the URL at the top of the page.
- Paste the URL in the assignment submission text box.
- Need help? Refer to the Canvas Guide for directions on how to enter a URL as an assignment submission. Links to an external site.
- Click Submit.

Intentional Design: Scaffolded Assignments
