Self Assessment of Your UTA Performance
Purpose
The last few assignments you have completed for this course have focused on thinking about how to convey your experience as a UTA to other people considering you for employment, admission to graduate or professional school, an internship or volunteer service activity, or perhaps a scholarship or award. The purpose of this assignment is to get you to reflect on your level of performance by completing a self assessment. Completing a self assessment of your performance is a good way to assess the progress you have made and the areas you would like to focus on for future development.
Directions
- Review the criteria listed on the UTA Performance Evaluation Download UTA Performance Evaluation form. (This is the same form you will provide to your faculty supervisor.)
- Reflect on your performance as a UTA. As you do this, consider each criterion listed on the form and assess the degree to which you think you accomplished each of these. Choose the rating (i.e., exceeds expectation = 4, meets expectation = 3, below expectation = 2, unsatisfactory = 1). If there is a criterion that is not applicable to your specific roles and responsibilities as a UTA, select NO/NA (not observed/not applicable); however, you must provide an explanation as to why you believe it is not applicable.
- Support each of your ratings with examples or explanations in the column labeled "comments."
- Include your name and the name of your faculty supervisor on the document.
- Save your self assessment as a Word file. Submit the document online in Webcourses.
Grading
Full points will be allotted if the following criteria are met:
- Ratings are selected for each criterion, unless it is deemed "not observed/not applicable".
- Examples/explanations are given to support each rating, including ratings of "not observed/not applicable".
- The document is submitted as a Word document by the due date.
Three points will be deducted for each criterion lacking an example or explanation. One point will be deducted for each criterion if the example or explanation is inadequate, incomplete, or lacking in some other way.
