Unique Challenges and Pressures Associated with Serving as a UTA

Purpose

As a UTA, you hold a unique position in the academic setting. You're a student, yet as a UTA you function in a professional role where the students you may be working with might be friends or may be taking one or more of the same courses as you. This dual status might result in dilemmas or uncomfortable situations at times. Identifying the types of situations and challenges is the first step in identifying ways to handle these challenges and pressures.

Directions

In preparation for our face-to-face class meeting this week, think about the types of situations that may present challenges for students serving as a UTA. List four relevant examples or types of situations and submit by the due date. Bring your list to class. 

Grading

10 points (2.5 points per example)
