FERPA Training & Quiz
As an undergraduate teaching assistant (UTA), it is essential that you know and apply the rules and regulations related to the Family Educational Rights to Privacy Act (FERPA). You cannot proceed in your UTA role or take this course if you do not complete this training. In order to complete the training, you must have completed the UCF Volunteer Service Form. (Note: The Volunteer Service Form is accessed from the link given in the previous sentence. Scroll down the page to #1 and look for where it says "this link".) This will set things in motion to establish a sponsored account for your by an external UCF office. You will be notified by email that an account has been requested. You must follow the directions in that email to proceed with getting the account fully activated. Once the account has been fully processed, you will receive another email granting you access for use. When this occurs you will be able to self-enroll in FERPA training.
Follow these steps to enroll in FERPA training (the steps are also outlined in your UTA Acceptance Letter Download UTA Acceptance Letter):
- Access myUCF.
- Go to the MAIN MENU. Look for EMPLOYEE SELF SERVICE. (Note: Your service as an undergraduate teaching assistant in the Department of Health Sciences is a volunteer position, not a paid position, but this is the mechanism we need to use to allow you to complete FERPA training.)
- Select LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT - REQUEST TRAINING ENROLLMENT - SEARCH BY COURSE NUMBER (enter: SR100W).
- Complete the training and the online quiz by the due date. A score of 90% or greater is required. Multiple attempts are allowed.
- Upload a screenshot of your passing score (90% or greater). Also send a copy to gail.kauwell@ucf.edu. Your name must be visible on the screenshot.
