Course Description
This course is a weekly seminar (bi-weekly class meetings) to examine the field experience and to integrate and relate theory with practice situations.
Prerequisite - Completion of all required courses in major. This course is taken concurrently with SOW 4941.
Methodology
The seminar provides a peer support and teaching milieu in which students can examine professional issues, share resources, and integrate basic concepts, skills and value orientations. The seminar is intended to offer students opportunities for continued affirmation, development, and improvement of competencies required for professional entry-level practice. Topics covered will vary in order to meet the needs of students having diverse experiences working at different agencies with a wide variety of client populations and confronting multiple problems in practice. Students will be required to make oral presentations in addition to written assignments.

Course Objectives
By the end of SOW 4515, the student will be expected to:
- Identify as a professional social worker and conduct oneself accordingly (PB 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6)
- Apply social work ethical principles to guide professional practice (PB 7, 8, 9, 10)
- Apply critical thinking to inform and communicate professional judgments (PB 11, 12, 13)
- Engage diversity and difference in practice (PB 14, 15, 16, 17)
- Advance human rights and social and economic justice (PB 18, 19, 20)
- Engage in research-informed practice and practice-informed research (PB 21, 22)
- Apply knowledge of human behavior and the social environment (PB 23, 24)
- Engage in policy practice to advance social and economic well being and to deliver effective social work services (PB 25, 26)
- Respond to contexts that shape practice (PB 27, 28)
- Engage, assess, intervene, and evaluate with individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities (PB 29. 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 27, 38, 39, 40 41)
