Introduction

Moving into the online environment can present some benefits and challenges in the realm of online course administration. Many faculty have commented that they find creating an online course takes more time than creating a face-to-face course. This can be especially true as online best practices suggest that faculty place their content materials online far ahead of the scheduled lecture date. Keep in mind that as your course begins, your job shifts from content creator to facilitator. As you will see, there is increased student interaction and engagement with course content, activities, and assessments than in the face-to-face environment.

In the online environment, the creation of effective online assessments becomes more important than ever. With questions regarding academic integrity looming over online courses, moving your assessments online presents some challenges. In this module we will discuss how to create effective online assessments and provide some useful strategies to help combat online cheating.
