Course Description

NUR 4516 is a three credit web course that will examine and apply crisis theory and intervention. This class is fast paced, creative, interactive, and informative. This class is applicable to nursing and public service professions.
Course Objectives
- Apply knowledge acquired in previous courses to crisis theory and intervention.
- Describe the impact of crises and crisis intervention on individuals, families, groups, communities, regions, and nations.
- Assess the efficacy of crisis intervention on physical, mental, emotional, social, intellectual, and spiritual well-being.
- Apply crisis intervention knowledge and skills to specific exercises such as discussion postings, group project, interview, simulated crisis situations, and examinations.
- Demonstrate proficiency in assessment and application of crisis and crisis intervention knowledge and skills.
- Identify local community resources available for individuals and families in crisis.

Course Requirements
Log into course frequently, at least once weekly.
Complete and submit all assignments by posted deadline.
Weekly review of television programming or newspaper articles related to crisis situations.
Missed Assignments/Make-Ups/Extra Credit
Assignments are due on the date posted in the syllabus. Exceptions require instructor approval.
