Introduction to Module 7
Introduction ot Module 7
The two chapters covered in module 7 are somwhat sifferent from one another with chapter 14 covering single subject designs that are analyzed visually rather than with statistical tests followed by chapter 15 which is about the statsitcal tests that are used to analyze many kinds of designs except fo r the single subject designs discussed on chapter 14.
You may notice that the final chapter of your book, chapter 16, is not in any module, and you should read it before you write your paper - see final paper assignment instructions.
Module 7 assignments
Like every other module there will be three assignments for module 7.
A discussion about statistical tests you might use in your final paper
A lab about using single subject designs
A quiz on chapters 14 and 15
Module 7 learning objectives
By the end of module 7 you should be able to:
- evaluate a singel subjecttest by visually inspecting the data
- identify strategies for dealing with unstable data
- add phase changes to an AB design to create a true experimental single subjects design
- know when to use changing criterion Vs multiple baseline Vs alternating treatments designs
- distinguish descriptive from inferential statistics
- identify three ways to measure the central tendency and which is most useful given the type of data reported
- apply appropriate statistical tests depending on the research design and aims of a study
- describe and use strategies to minimize the chance of type I and type II errors
