Introduction to Module 6
Introduction to Module 6
Module 6 includes two chapters:
chapter 12 on correlational research methods, which have the aim of describing the relationship and strength of the relationship between variables
chapter 13 on observational research designs, which are used to describe variables as they exist in an individual, population, or situation
Assignments
Like every other module, there are three assignments in Module 6:
- Quiz
- Discussion about applying descriptive research strategies to understanding real world problems.
- Lab on using correlational and observational methods to understand a behavior of interest to you (and this lab will be followed up on in the module 7 lab)
Module 6 learning objectives
- At the end of module 6 you should be able to:
- Identify the characteristics of a relationship described by a correlation
- Apply correlational designs to address research questions
- Describe the goals of and types of observational research
- Select an appropriate method for measuring observed behavior
- Construct a survey
- Administer a survey
- Describe the strengths and weaknesses of case studies
