Preparing for the Virtual Showcase

Start Here Purpose

The purpose of the Virtual Showcase is to highlight what you have created during <Replace - Course Title>

The Virtual Showcase will take place during the final week of the course (week 10) and will allow you to share your course project(s) with your classmates and how what you have learned in <Replace - Course Title> has influenced your course design. You will also be able to see what your peers have been working on as well.

Please review the steps below and begin to prepare for your Virtual Showcase entry.

Strategies  Steps to Complete this Activity

Step 1: Create your Virtual Showcase Entry/Presentation. You may choose to use text, audio, video, or a combination of all three; however, remember that your showcase submission is meant to serve as a highlight of your course and the design strategies you've implemented over the last ten weeks (see examples), so it does not need to be lengthy.

Please include at a minimum the following elements in your showcase entry/presentation:

  • Course Details. Provide a brief summary of the course that you began to develop in. Be sure to include:
    • The prefix/number and course title
    • A brief description of the course layout and design <Replace - Course Title>
  • Design and Development Strategy Implementation (choose ONE of the following)
    • Option 1: Share how a specific strategy (e.g., accessibility, active learning) you learned throughout your time in <Replace - Course Title> influenced specific aspects of your course. Be sure to reference particular elements of the course that you began to develop in <Replace - Course Title>and provide supporting artifacts
    • Option 2: Share how you reconceptualized a specific aspect of your course for this new online modality. How did you adapt or re-conceptualize a specific aspect of your face-to-face course for an online modality? Be sure to reference particular elements of the course that you began to develop in <Replace - Course Title> and provide supporting artifacts.
      • Supporting digital artifact(s). Be sure to include digital artifacts to support your showcase entry. Digital artifacts should be specific work you have created in your <Replace - Course Title> development course that showcases the option you selected above. You may also choose to include additional digital artifacts that highlight course design/material that you are particularly proud of or excited about. For example:
        • Images/Screenshots from your course
        • Diagrams/Outlines
        • Interactive activities/Games
        • PDFs/Documents
        • Video Links
  • Takeaway and Next Steps. Describe a takeaway from your <Replace - Course Title> experience and how you believe it has influenced/may influence your online course design and facilitation journey.
