    • Limit attempts or allow unlimited attempts
  • Several publishers have test banks that you may import into your course. Most of these test banks are compatible with the Canvas quizzes tool.
    • Check with your instructional designer if you are considering using a test bank.
  • You may create question groups for quizzes. The system will randomly select a specified number of questions from the group of questions (e.g., randomly select 20 questions from a question group of 50 questions.)

Strategies Logistical Considerations

  • Do you plan to create quizzes with questions that will be automatically graded or questions you will need to grade manually?
    • If you have a large class, consider limiting the number of questions that will need to be manually graded.
  • Review the settings you would like to enable for the quiz (e.g., time limit, randomize questions, display one question at a time).
  • If you use short answer questions in your quizzes, you need to include every possible answer since the system automatically grades these question types. Another option is to use regular expressions.

Syllabus Grading Considerations

  • What is the size of your class? Do you plan to create quizzes with questions that will be automatically graded by the system or questions you will need to grade manually?
  • If you use short answer questions in your quizzes, you need to include every possible answer since the system automatically grades these question types. Another option is to use regular expressions.
