Introduction to Equipment Services

The FMC provides an extensive range of equipment that can be reserved by faculty to create content for any UCF affiliated project. This includes cameras, stabilizers, microphones, and lights that cater to all skill-levels. The choice of gear is influenced by various factors, including the type of video being produced, the number of individuals who will be on screen, shooting locations, and the time of day. We know that this can be intimidating, which is why we suggest scheduling an Equipment or Project Consultation to meet with our experienced FMC staff. Our team will assess your skills, production expectations, and the nature of the content to select the most suitable gear that meets your needs. While virtual consultations are available, we highly recommend visiting us in-person at the FMC. This gives you the opportunity to interact with the gear firsthand, fostering a better understanding of their capabilities and functionality.

Equipment Guides for Reserving Gear

Reserving equipment at the FMC can be done either in-person, by emailing FMC@ucf.edu, or by calling the FMC at 407-823-0519. When making the reservation, you will be asked to schedule a return date and time to secure the gear. To ensure a smooth production process, we recommend reserving the equipment in advance for testing and familiarization before the actual production date(s). You do not want to get to the event or shooting location and realize that the gear does not meet your needs or that you are unsure how to properly use it. We also recommend analyzing the gear during pick-up for any damages and to ensure that it functions properly. This will maintain efficiency and accountability.

Returning Gear

Equipment should be returned in-person at the FMC on the scheduled date and time agreed upon during the reservation process. You will receive a confirmation email within 24 hours of the reserved return date. If you want to extend a reservation, please contact the FMC via phone or email to check its availability. We may or may not be able to accommodate the extensions based on other faculty reservations. When returning the gear, the FMC staff will check it in at the front desk and ensure that all hardware has been returned in good condition. Please make sure to share any issues that you may have had during production with our team prior to leaving the center.
