Week 8: Prioritization and Planning
Your team now has a clear picture of the gaps that this organization has in patient safety.
This Week's Assignment:
- Continue your literature search to inform your recommendations.
- With your team, prioritize the opportunities for improvement and determine which ones should be completed short-term and which could be long-term.
- Draft a high-level list of opportunities for improvement for both short and long-term priorities to become an HRO. The goal is not to create plans for improvement now, but rather to provide them with a list of recommendations for performance improvement projects that should be addressed as soon as possible, and others that should be built into strategic planning for the next 3-5 years.
- Summarize your recommendations on the Patient Safety Strategic Plan, keeping them concise and brief. The entire strategic plan should not exceed 2 pages.
- Include references as an appendix and any supporting attachments you think will help to reinforce the message for the senior leadership team and provide future direction. This could include infographics, charts, graphs, etc. that will help to provide visual reinforcement for your recommendations. (Assume that most executives will not have time to review the actual references; how can you summarize the evidence in the most visually appealing way?)
