Module 9: Start Here
Welcome to Module Nine: Subjective Camera and Research Methods for Film Analysis!
Now that the mid-term has been completed, you will review assignment instructions and begin work on your final project through a multi-step process that will be observed throughout the rest of the semester. You will learn tips for success and review exemplary final project examples to begin conceptualizing your own work. You will begin the final project process by understanding research methods for film analysis. Through a short research assignment, you will discover and evaluate sources of film criticism. Afterward, you will review a short theoretical article and view Cleo from 5 to 7 to pinpoint subjective cinematic techniques in a writing assignment.
Module 9: Topics and Goals
In this module you can expect to:
- Explore the final project you'll be working on for the rest of the semester. You'll review the assignment instructions and see some Final Project Examples.
- Prepare for the final project by assembling scholarly sources for your analysis by browsing the film journal Senses of Cinema and/or the UCF Library Database
- Complete a short assignment analyzing a piece of film criticism to get more insight into your own writing.
- Read an article on subjective camera concepts by reading the chapter "Camera" Download "Camera" in the Routledge Encyclopedia of Film Theory
- View the film Cleo from 5 to 7
- Understand and apply subjective camera concepts through a thoughtful short analysis: Cleo from 5 to 7 writing assignment
- Finally, you'll wrap up the module by completing Quiz #3
