Module 6 Summary
In the Week 6 Module: Silence is Sound, you explored theories of sound design in cinema by reading Filmish chapter five on voice and language. You learned about the various sound design and editing techniques that filmmakers use to communicate messages to audience members through cinematic technique. We screened Robert Bresson's A Man Escaped following a brief contextualization of his unique use of sound design and imagery. You then proved your knowledge of these techniques through a short discussion contribution.
Getting Ready for Module 7
In the next module, we'll shift to understanding how filmmakers portray reality in cinema and manipulate time. You'll read a Filmish chapter and theoretical article called "Ontology of the Photographic Image" to understand this unique concept through the completion of a writing assignment.
