Module #8 Introduction
What it Takes to Get There - Part I - GOALS
We have spent quite a bit of time on the technical support systems needed to get a job. Now it's time to focus on why people succeed in the entertainment industry. We will look at some of the mental aspects of perseverance as you head toward your professional destination(s) and create systems that works for you. We will set goals and talk about the mental mindset that will help you throughout your journey. Grit is certainly a big part of success, but there are other behaviors that may either prepare us for the professional world, or sabotage our efforts to get there.
In addition, during this module you will learn more about how to conduct an informational interview and begin to develop questions for your informational interviews coming up later in the semester.
Module Objective
It's a moment in time, but now is as good as any to look at your vision, mission and purpose. This may change as you grow and learn more about who you are and what you really want. Use the tools in this module to help you understand the process of building a roadmap to your unique future.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this module, students will be able to:
- Find more jobs that track toward your ultimate goal
- Gain first hand knowledge from professionals which will guide your choices moving forward
- Clearly discuss your current professional mission, vision and purpose
- Build a scaffold of systems that support your goals and help you reach your ultimate concern
