BIO: CARLOS GUITY

Carlos Guity was born and raised in the South Bronx, New York. He was the fifth of seven sons
born to GARIFUNA ( Garifuna ) parents who immigrated from Honduras, Central America in the
1960’s. His parents came to the US in search of a better way of life for their children. The South
Bronx was the birthplace of hip hop which encompassed rapping, DJ’s and breakdancing.
Carlos was immersed in this world and took to the breakdancing side which included “flipping”
as we called it. He had a natural talent at “flipping” and began to find creative ways to express
his talent. In 1979 The Big Apple Circus which was a New York based circus started a circus
school focused on recruiting inner city kids and training them in circus arts. Carlos was a natural
and was chosen along with many other kids to be part of this school. He would train there for 10
years in circus arts which included ballet, tumbling, acrobatics, juggling and unicycling. In 1990
he was invited to perform professionally with the Big Apple Circus. Although he was attending
college at the time with goals of being an accountant it was his dream to perform as an acrobat
with the Big Apple Circus. Over the next eight years Carlos would perform in seven different
productions with the circus, work as an accounting assistant in the circus’ executive offices and
coach students at the circus school where he got his start years earlier. After leaving the circus
in 1998 Carlos moved to Orlando, Florida where he would start working for Walt Disney World
as a stunt performer at the Indiana Jones Stunt Show in 1999. There he would learn stage
fighting, high falls and stunt acting to go along with his acrobatic skills. He would spend 20 years
there as a stunt performer and was also a stunt captain for 15 of those years. As a stunt captain
he was responsible for stunt performer safety, training stunt performers, identifying new stunt
performers at auditions and maintaining show quality. In 2007 Carlos would receive Disney’s
Partners in Excellence Award which was Disney’s highest honor for cast recognition. Carlos
was a proven leader and in 2015 he was offered the opportunity to be part of Walt Disney
World’s Emerging Leaders Management Training Program . He successfully completed the
program and was an Entertainment Manager for nearly two years. He managed most
entertainment shows and character venues at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. In 2019 his
impressive resume as a performer, coach and leader led to a position as an acrobatic coach
with Cirque Du Soleil’s show CORTEO on a European tour. He would tour Italy, Germany,
France, Spain and Belgium. He worked closely with the head coach and artistic director to
ensure all acrobatic artists were prepared for each performance. His responsibilities included
managing training sessions and coaching artists. Over the past 20 years Carlos has also
managed to earn some impressive film credits as a stunt performer ( nm1511653 ). Most notable
would be Marvel’s Black Panther, Avengers:Infinity War and Avengers:Endgame.
