THE3082 Introduction
Instructor Introduction
Sheri Croft I began my career as a Director in theatre. I was lucky to be scooped up by a Tony Award winning playwright, Mark Medoff, immediately after graduate school to work with him on the development of new plays. I was able to hone my abilities to sculpt story and character during these years and then I set out on my own to work in NYC and LA, in the theatre. See if you can find me in the picture! I was young :). I have a wide variety of professional experiences in the entertainment world. I worked in corporate entertainment, with clients as large as NBC and Disney. While I was volunteering (aka networking), I met the leader at Disney Feature Animation, and then got hired to work on such films as Pocahontas, Hunchback of Notre Dame and Mulan.
I loved learning an entirely new part of the entertainment world, but missed live shows. I went back to WDW Entertainment and spent many years leading teams and delivering entertainment to millions of guests, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
I was also responsible for building talent management profiles for hiring the best leaders for the job. While at the "Studios" I produced a giant stunt show, with motorcycles and cars and wondered what in my MFA made me able to seriously discuss the viscosity of asphalt!
The truth is nothing is unsolvable with a growth mindset. Later on I began outreach work with organizations and schools because I also have a passion for helping grow the next generation of entertainment professionals. I continue to give back by helping others see their value and talent. At Disney, I created and developed the Talent Management area for Entertainment. My team was responsible for Outreach, Leadership Development and Staffing.
Innately, I think of myself as a creative leader. I'm a writer, painter, and craftsperson. This is what I bring to my work, no matter whether I'm building budgets for the next multimillion-dollar attraction or guiding the next brilliant mind in a new direction. Currently, while continuing to work in entertainment, I brought a new non-profit to life and breathing into it the hope of a more civil debate about the future of our democracy and our government. I love to travel to new places on the planet and I am a kayaker, hiker, semi-runner, and scuba diver.
In the end, the only true passion I have is helping others find the best of themselves. |
