Assignment 9: Visual Analyses
- Due Apr 3 by 11:59pm
- Points 25
- Submitting a file upload
1. Watch the Demonstration Video: Visual Analyses.
2. See the rubric at the end of this webpage.
3. Given the excel dataset, generate three charts and interpret your findings. Specifically, you will create, (a) a bar chart that illustrates the revenue of all markets together by month, (b) a pie chart that shows the shares (for each market) of hotel revenue, (c ) a line graph that displays average daily rates by market. Your graph should also include the elements reviewed in the demonstration video, for example, adding a graph title, adding titles to the X and Y axis, displaying data points when needed, adapting the minimum and maximum points of the vertical axis, and adjusting format to enable easier understanding. (Always think from the audience's perspective.)
4.- Lastly, write a data commentary that explains your findings based on your pivot graphs. Two or three paragraphs that summarize your findings should be enough. You can use the following questions to inform your data commentary.
-
- What is the market with the smallest/largest revenue in 2019?
- Are there markets with similar hotel revenue in 2019?
- What market has the largest/smallest share of revenue in 2019?
- Do you see any patterns/trends in the change of average daily rates across markets in 2019?
5.- Submit your excel file including your visual analyses and your data commentary (word version). Remember that two documents are needed for submission. .
