You are the stage manager for a play that is about to make its world premiere. In honor of the occasion, the playwright will be attending the opening performance. As rehearsals have progressed and the show gets closer to opening your lead actress is almost constantly showing up late – failing to notify you or an ASM beforehand and excusing it as some sort of emergency or accident. There is also a negative energy to her interactions with the rest of the cast and crew - impolitely demanding breaks, water, and props in a rude manner. You have tried to be understanding with her situation and have even gently reminded her of the rules, but nothing has changed. It is opening night now and a half hour until the top of the show, but she has yet to sign in on the call sheet. There are no understudies to this performance and you have a full house waiting for the show to begin. What do you do?
