Module Overview: Theatre Terminology, Configurations, and Systems

Info Introduction

Regardless of your focus as a theatre artist, the verbiage and numerous details to remember can feel overwhelming at first. And what if you find yourself as a non-technical artist thrust into the deep waters of finding a performance venue and making sure it will be able adequately support the show you want to create? Knowing what you are looking at when you tour a new venue for the first time can be the difference between success and a really challenging tech and performance experience.

The purpose of this module is to introduce you to the basic theatre terminology and systems, as well as the five major types of theatre stage configurations.
