Module 7: Special Diagnostic and Care Services

Special Diagnostics and Care Services incorporates a variety of healthcare departments that provide services including physical therapy, occupational therapy, nutritional services, speech therapy, respiratory services, and cardiac rehabilitation services.

Physical therapy services
assist with increasing the strength, coordination, and mobility of the patient through the utilization of restorative exercises and equipment.
Occupational therapy
helps patients improve their performance in essential daily activities (ADL = activities of daily living) and helps them with adapting to their respective environments.
Nutritional services
help prescribe each individual's dietary needs.
Speech therapy
assists patients with any cognitive, language, or speech impairments.
Respiratory services
evaluate and treat patients that have breathing problems and provide assistance with chronic and emergency respiratory disorders.
Cardiac rehabilitative services
help improve the patient's cardiovascular function, and help manage the patient's cardiovascular condition.
