Citation Style Guide
Citing a source is an important and necessary part of historical writing. Unless the information is your own, it came from somewhere else. That somewhere else must be referenced, be it a book, website, video, podcast, etc...
There are various formats and styles to choose from. Different disciplines typically have a preferred style. History, for example, uses the Chicago or Turabian styles, literature uses MLA, and psychology uses APA.
Since you are not all history majors, I will not require a specific style for citation. However, when writing a discussion or your essay, you must choose and use a consistent style for that work. If you do not already have a preference, I recommend Chicago style for this class.
