Course Introduction
HSC4813 - Instructional Experiences in Health Sciences is a one credit course linked with a service learning experience as an undergraduate teaching assistant (UTA) for Health Sciences courses. Serving as an undergraduate teaching assistant provides students in the Department of Health Sciences with the opportunity for academic enrichment as they assist their assigned faculty mentor with course administration and instruction. HSC4813 is intended to support students in their roles as undergraduate teaching assistants using discussions and other activities.
Over the course of the semester, it is anticipated that you will gain a better appreciation of teaching and learning from the perspective of the faculty member who is teaching the course to which you have been assigned and the activities and assignments in this course. It is also anticipated that you will advance your communication, critical thinking, decision-making, collaboration, professional, and leadership skills.
Learning outcomes for this course include the ability to:
