Module 7: Overview

Module Introduction

Module 7 (Week 7) will be completed online. This module focuses on "Working in Teams/Groups". You will learn about team player styles and what each style contributes to a team; the stages of team development; the difference between compromise and consensus in the context of making team decisions; and interpersonal and meeting management skills that facilitate effective teamwork. You also will have a chance to assess your team player style.

While not all of you have a UTA assignment in a course that involves teamwork, all of you have taken or will take courses in which you will be assigned teamwork. Developing an understanding of teamwork dynamics and how to facilitate effective teamwork will help you now and in the future.

ObjectivesModule Objectives

This session provides students with the opportunity to:
  1. recognize the four stages of team development.
  2. match the four types of team player styles to their respective characteristics and contributions.
  3. assess your team player style using the team player questionnaire.
  4. distinguish between compromise and consensus in the context of making team/group decisions.
  5. recognize the components of interpersonal and meeting management skills.
  6. project how the development of effective teamwork skills will help you succeed in your training for your desired career and your future employment in that career.
