Before Class

1. Give some thought to the qualities/characteristics you think contribute to being an effective UTA. This might be based on your personal experience as a UTA during a previous semester, experience as a UTA so far this semester, experience working with a UTA while you were a student in a course, or reading/research you do on your own.
2. Reflect on the courses you have taken or are currently taking. Can you identify any verbal and/or non-verbal behaviors used by the instructor that facilitated an environment that made you/your classmates feel encouraged, motivated, more comfortable participating, or other similar feelings? What did those instructors do to foster an environment that felt supportive and comfortable?
