Module 1 Overview

Module Introduction

Module 1 (Week 1) of this course will be conducted face-to-face. (Attendance is required.) During this session, your professor will present an overview of the course and provide you with the chance to ask questions. You also will be introduced to your professor with the intent of fostering a comfortable atmosphere where you feel connected and supported, an approach that is associated with the concept of teacher immediacy/immediacy in the classroom.

ObjectivesModule Objectives

By the end of this class you should be able to:

  1. respond correctly to all questions on the HSC4813 Syllabus and Course Expectations Quiz as a result of completing preparatory work during Module 0 (Week 0), attending the in-class overview of the syllabus and related materials, and listening to answers to questions posed during the face-to-face class session.
  2. identify tasks that are appropriate/inappropriate for undergraduate teaching assistants in the Department of Health Sciences to perform.
  3. explain the purpose of sharing appropriate personal information between faculty and students.
  4. create your "Meet Your UTA" introduction in a printable format (i.e., as opposed to video, audio, etc.) to be shared with students enrolled in the course for which you will serve as a UTA, as well as your instructor and HSC4813 classmates.
