Stomachache. We’ve all been there, wondering if it was something we ate.
Usually for the relatively healthy person, the ache will resolve on its own or with a simple over the counter medication. But for other conditions, the ache may be a sign of an acute illness or the beginning of a long term chronic battle of the bowels. In this chapter, you will be introduced to many of those conditions that can occur along the gastrointestinal system, from starting with the upper GI track through to the lower track. You will also learn about the medication families, both over the counter and prescription, that can be used to prevent, treat, or manage the symptoms of gastrointestinal distress.
