When you gotta go, you just gotta go.
The most commonly used drugs affecting the urinary tract are diuretics. Diuretics are drugs that cause an increase in urine excretion. There are several different types of diuretics available, both prescription and over the counter, each working at a different area in the urinary system. But diuretics aren’t the only medications affecting the urinary system. Other categories of medications used to target the urinary system can include urinary analgesics, bladder antispasmodics, and drugs used in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia.
