  • Identify the five sources of drugs
  • List several variable that may affect the actions of drugs
  • Define adverse reactions 
  • Identify and contrast the various routes of drug administration 
  • Define the following processes as they relate to drugs: absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion 
  • Differentiate between systemic effects and local effects, loading dose and maintenance dose, toxic dose and lethal dose

 

Hmm, so where do drugs come from and how do they affect the body?
Well, in chapter 3 you are going to learn just that. You will read about the various places where drugs have been discovered. Drugs also tend to behave in a pattern once they are in the body. You will learn about the steps in this pattern and how each step can affect the body and the bodily reactions that can occur.
