Lab 5: Designing Simple and Complex Studies
Between Subjects Experiment
This lab is more complicated than previous assignments. You will have to compute some simple statistics by hand or using Excel or SPSS. Make sure you get started on this lab well before the deadline so you have plenty of time to get your questions answered if necessary.
Your task is to begin to design a between-subjects experiment using the “sample” provided. Information about the sample is provided in the table at the end of the lab worksheet, and the same information is available in an Excel worksheet that you can download here: Lab 5 sample info.xlsx). Everything you need to know to complete this lab can be found on the following worksheet: Lab 5 worksheet.docx.
There is no sample for this lab, because any sample would do the lab for you! As always, if you have any questions, ask the GTA or myself. Before you ask questions, however, make sure you have read the Lab 5 worksheet carefully, and read Chapters 9 and 10 in the textbook and my summaries of the chapters found under the "Modules" tab on the left side of the screen.
Please read the worksheet carefully! I tried very hard to make the requirements crystal clear, however, if anything seems confusing, feel free to ask me about it. As clear as it may seem to me, I realize that it might not seem clear to you. This lab is more complex than previous labs, so it won't surprise me if some of you have questions.
